Can someone translate the comments overheard on my video from the space shuttle event? I assume it is Tibetan … and I assume the monks were saying good things:
“So, how many monks does it take to touch the face of God?”
“Three. Two to hold the prayer flags, and one to up throttle the space shuttle.”
Ha … that makes absolutely no sense … I know. But somehow, I was trying to tie in the space shuttle’s piggy back take off in Fort Worth, with the “men of the cloth” I saw witnessing the event.
Ping me. I ping yo back.
It has come to my attention that I neglected to post a photo of one of my new favorite places in San Francisco. I suppose in all of the hoopla surrounding the SFO press conference for PingWi-Fi.com, one ping was overlooked.
Note the artwork (look closely … may be able to see) which features what appear to be pigs, riding on fish. (Wait until PETA hears about this!) Oh, and also note the orange cone strategically placed in the frame. Yes … I love me some orange triangles.
Ping’s Salon in San Francisco — 7 pings — perfect score. No Wi-Fi detected, but it’s all about the branding, right?
I had coffee with Craig once … but until recently, I had not used his list. Then, the other day, I posted a garage sale item, hoping someone would carry away my old couch and love seat.
Craig Lists
(Don’t tell them I will accept any price, just to get rid of the things …)
Anyway … have you ever posted an item for sale on www.craigslist.org? Well, if you do, there is an interesting disclaimer. I scanned Craig’s forbidden list pretty quickly, but one section stood out like a sore appendage. It is disallowed, in writing, to sell blood, body fluids and/or body parts. What the heck is that about?
Are you on twitter? Ha .. it is one of the best named products ever, I mean … can you believe this is the hottest thing going? Oops … did I really say that and break ranks with the Internet cool of the moment? (Careful, might get blacklisted …)
Whatever.
Friday, I succumbed to a self-induced turkey stupor, dozing off with the laptop on my chest, pinned to the couch. I was supposed to be monitoring KRLD Radio online. Market analyst and business journalist David Johnson had interviewed me a couple of days earlier, and I didn’t know when the piece would air. As I slept, I swear I dreamed I heard my own nasally voice — speaking that is — but kept on “sawing logs.” Ha … I missed it.
David Johnson, KRLD, CEO Spotlight:
Thank goodness for radio podcasts …
My visit to San Francisco began with a bang. San Francisco International Airport hosted a press conference, and then treated me to their T-Mobile HotSpot, one of the largest in the country. The press conference drew two TV stations, a radio reporter and several print journalists. Not bad. After someone finally took the
Press Conference
microphone away from me, I went exploring and had my way with the huge Wi-Fi HotSpot. Ha … I didn’t find a place without connectivity in the International Terminal … as I wandered around among the Singapore Air flight attendants, soccer hooligans, an antique model train display and several nice restaurants.
SFO — especially my contact, Grier — played wonderful hosts. The connectivity was seemingly ever-present and the people watching was world class — 6 pings.
It has been brought to my attention that some people are not familiar with the PingWi-Fi mission, so here is the news release distributed from San Francisco:
Blogger Launches PingWi-Fi Tour At San Francisco International Airport; Huge T-Mobile HotSpot Is Irresistible Attraction For Wireless Explorer
SAN FRANCISCO — PingWi-Fi will explore all things wireless — coast to coast — for one year, beginning with a press conference in the International Terminal at San Francisco International Airport. His first challenge: the acreage – rather than square footage – of the SFO T-Mobile HotSpot.
“SFO is one of the largest Wi-Fi hotspots in the country, filled with a very cool collection of businesses onsite,” said blogger D. Kent Pingel. “This T-Mobile HotSpot sets the bar extremely high on the official day one of the tour.”
Cilantro Rolls Fatties
This just in from the “Texas Tech representin hotline” … Ha … My last day in San Francisco, I decided what the heck, why not wear the Red Raider shirt. I can say with some certainty that I was the only guy in San Francisco wearing the double T for Tech. But, the shirt is not quite as obscure as I thought. I checked my bag at my hotel, before heading out to look for hotspots. There were about 50 copies of USA TODAY stacked up at the desk … and guess what was on page 1 of USA TODAY today. Bingo — Texas Tech, football genius Mike Leach and Heisman frontrunner Graham Harrell.
