Hallowed, Shakey Ground: Southwest to South Padre International Music Festival

It’s so Halloween.

As I was driving to Dallas’ Love Field, getting ready to hop on the Love airline, I heard on KRLD radio that there were at least two earthquakes overnight, just south of DFW Airport in the 3-point range.  Dang!  Ground turbulence!

I can just hear the conversation in the cockpit, “Someone hold the ground still, so I can land this thing.”

So, I got to the Southwest gate early.  You know I am going to pose the question.  How’s the Wi-Fi?

Well … first I posed the question to the ticket agent, “Trick or Treat?”  (It’s Southwest, it’s okay to have a little fun.)  She gave me her package of Smarties, which was pretty nice. Hmmm … how can I be sure a product with twistee ends hasn’t been all tampered with?  Then I saw she was hording a chocolate Reece’s cup for herself.  So I called her something inappropriate and walked off.  Just kidding.

I can’t wait to see what the flight attendants will be wearing – in costume I’m sure.  I mean … Southwest is the airline whose leader had the Gene Simmons total makeover one year.  I digress.

About the Wi-Fi …

As I sit and wait for my flight to Harlingen, and the South Padre International Music Festival, I am pleased to announce I am free to blog around the terminal … at least at Gate 2. I opened up the laptop, and there waiting for me was AT&T.  At this gate, it just happened to be the strongest signal – “very good” according to the meter in my HP. The T-Mobile signal was neck-and-neck, and following in third place was Wayport (although it was not a strong signal in this area).

Love Field Wi-Fi  helped me get a blog up, before the trip began.  And the ground seems to be relatively stable — 6 pings.

Oh … too funny.  I was just thinking about Halloween and the band name Ween popped into my head.  I wondered if the scariest holiday of the year weighed into their decision to choose that name.  And strange as it seems, as my laptop flipped through my iTunes library on shuffle … yes you guessed it … out of several hundred songs, Ween pushed its way into my earbuds next.  The coincidences just never cease.  First earthquakes on Halloween, then Ween on Halloween … as I fly south to “Harlin-gEEN.”

So, its off to the music festival …

Know what I sayin?
