PingWi-Fi Shooting Up The Streets At Sundance

Sundance gave me my money’s worth today in star power, especially considering I am the ultimate budget traveler on this trip.  After a good film to begin my day (previous blog), I spent several hours in the drizzle — like about a thousand other people — listening to a dramatic reading on Main Street in Park City.

Several stars participated with Robert Redford and his Sundance gang for a dramatic reading — quoting disobedience and dissent from several generations — Thoreau, Anthony,  Actually, I didn’t listen to much of it, but rather waited by the exit door from the street stage/tent.  I would have liked to have seen Wycliff Jean perform some “stole I from Africa”-esque grooves, which ended the afternoon presentation. But I wasn’t giving up my photo perch. Just as well … he closed with an ode to Obama, which would have been wasted on me.

This blogger, photographers and an interested group of lifelong autograph hounds were all positioned between the street stage and the front door to the green room for celebs.  Get this, one gentleman told me he had 16,000 autographs dating back to The Marx Brothers.  He grabs them at events like Sundance … and also writes letters to the stars, who generally send back a sig.  Interesting hobby, or vocation … or whatever.

As for me, I was just being all stealthy and grabbing a few shots for the blog.

Ha … I swear I am NOT stalking Benjamin Bratt and his co-star Erika Alexander (“La Mission”), but i have run into them several times in the last two days.  This time, I was ready for a few quick shots.  Ms. Alexander even stopped to chat and vogue in her cowboy hat.  Come to think of it … I got some shots of Mr. Bratt and his pack on the streets at Sundance back in 2004.  That is pretty cool that he is out there still doing the Indy thing.
