Klatch — A Great Wi-Fi Catch, In Historic Cucamonga Yo!

RAN-CHO …. KOOK-a-MONGA!

Rancho Cucamonga … Say it aloud. “Rancho Cucamonga.”  If you are old enough to remember back when David Letterman was still funny and cutting edge, he used to pause and just say funny sounding words for comic effect.

“Rancho Cucamonga.” Perhaps a missed opportunity, Dave.

Historic Setting

So, yes, I was cruising Rancho Cucamonga today, just because I liked the sound of the place, when I decided I needed a coffee fix. I turned on the map-ap on my G4 iPhone (the latest soon to be outdated and obsolete overpriced smart phone from my buddies at Ap-ple) … typed in coffee shop and up popped Klatch Coffee. Hey … I spied this place the other night and thought it looked cool.

I was right. Next door to a winery on Foothills Blvd., in the RC, Klatch is a funky little place with classic rock … the good classic rock variety, like Badfinger, Beatles, Grand Funk, Stones, even a very rare, deep cut by Deep Purple, etc., … exposed wooden beam ceilings, stain concrete floors, hip-hip painted furniture, mod easy chairs and funky woodwork fixtures.

By the way, that winery, just happens to be THE oldest winery in California, founded in 1839 by Don Tiburcio Tapia. Nice!

Klatch, they tell me, has three locations and is a family-owned operation which roasts all its beans in Upland, Calif.  Good to know.

Klatch – 2009 Micro Roaster of the Year

The coffee? Stellar … ha and they have all the same branded souvenirs you might find at any green giant Starbucks … but of course with a different logo. Klatch Coffee’s logo is a bright orange color on their mugs, not unlike this branded blog.  The Klatch logo is formed by count ’em – 4- quotation marks. (Don’t tell the cool Cali-folks at Klatch, but the design sort of looks like an abstract Texas icon, with San Antonio to the coastal area, formed by the lower, largest quotation ma

They also tell me “klatch” is a German word meaning conversation over coffee. (I will have to ask my research schlomper about that …)

Jarad, Cortney at Klatch

Klatch’s tagline is “Where coffee is the conversation,” is a keeper … but … alas, we are here to talk Wi-Fi.

I sat down and tweeted my brains out before my coffee even thought about getting cold. And I e-mailed two large, large photo files of my running buddy Steve … no problem! The Klatch Wi-Fi, which by the way is password protected, runs smooth and deep … The only minor flaw — it took it a while to allow the PingMac laptop to get onboard. No worries.

Nice people. A great cup of custom brewed bean, even excellent filtered water, and speedy Wi-Fi. Klatch in Cucamonga … say it “KOOK-a-MONGA” … gets 7 pings — a perfect score! (Yes “Ping” is a German word meaning Wi-Fi shout out … sort of)

Know what I saying?
