UK Readers Rank Wi-Fi As Top Innovation In A Decade

Wireless internet beat Sky+, Sat Navs, iPods and Blackberries to top the poll in a leading gadget magazine.

The survey asked readers to choose the greatest technological innovation of the past ten years. Wireless Internet was voted for by more than a third of the readers of Stuff.

Fevzi Turkalp, who runs the Gadget Detective website, said it was hard to disagree with wireless Internet winning most people’s votes. It is likely to change far more people’s lives over the next decade, he added, as more cities around the country adopt Wi-Max technology, which will transform Wi-Fi hot spots into large areas where people can log onto the internet for free.
